QPR second string labour to Windsor win

A mixture of youth and reserve players stumbled to a 2-1 victory at Windsor and Eton tonight in the first of two midweek games for the QPR boys.

Trialist Chris Flood and youth team centre half Lee Brown, who signed pro terms with the club this summer, got the goals either side of half time under the guidance of manager for the evening Gareth Ainsworth.

The QPR team featured Zesh Rehman, Chris Barker and Danny Nardiello which, with the first team playing at Northampton tomorrow, says a lot about where Iain Dowie sees their futures. Blackpool are sniffing after players in exchange to smooth the passage of Kaspars Gorkss to QPR and one or a combination of these three are the names in the frame.

This was also fans’ first chance to see youth team skipper Danny Maguire in action since signing his pro-deal and Joe Ostler since his summer move from Portsmouth.

Ainsworth told the club’s official website: “I was really pleased with the effort the lads put in for me tonight, I can’t fault any of them for that. Our passing could have been better but it wasn’t a great pitch so it was harder to get the ball down and play than we would have liked.

“The gaffer was here this evening and he gave me a few pointers afterwards which was really useful. It’s fantastic to be able to get tips from somebody like him.”

QPR: Crowther, Ostler, Rehman (Brown), Ford (Myers), Barker, Rose, Maguire, O’Brien, Arthur (Nanetti), Flood, Nardiello
