Guidolin: "A Good Opportunity At An Important Club"

Francesco Guidolin described Swansea as an important club as he gave his first interview having been appointed as Head Coach this afternoon before the Swans 1--0 win over Watford at the Liberty.

Guidolin was a spectator in the stands as Ashley Williams headed the only goal of the game to give the Swans a much needed win and a big boost before the new man really gets to grips with the job tomorrow.

Guidolin took the title of head coach at the club but he has been given the final say in team selection which makes him manager in everything but name and he gave his first interview to the official site when the appointment was confirmed

"It’s a very good opportunity for me at an important club,” said Guidolin. "At the moment it’s not a good situation for the club, but we have a good team.

"In Italy, I helped my team finish in a good position in the table, and that’s what I hope to achieve here at Swansea.

"At the moment everything is new to me, so I need three or four days to talk to the staff and players. After that, I will have a precise idea of things.

"I will be in the dugout on Sunday, but tonight is the focus for everyone. This evening we have an important match. I will be watching the match and hopefully we can get three points.

"Alan Curtis is a legend at Swansea, and this is important for me. He knows everything about the club."
