Saints Celebrate Being Linked With 50th Transfer Target In April

There is still another Month to go before the transfer window opens, yet already the media is linking all and sundry with a move to St Mary's, how much truth is in the latest rumour.

April has not yet even ended and with each and every day Saints seem to be linked with around two new targets a day, the latest being Huddersfield's Nahki Wells.

The striker who first made his name at fellow Yorkshire club Bradford City is known for his work rate although in the past he has not scored as many goals as his manager's would have liked, seemingly with an ability in the past to miss a fair few in his quest for goals.

That seems to have changed this season with 17 Championship goals for Huddersfield in 38 starts plus another 5 games as sub. to bring his total for Huddersfield since his move in January 2014 to 34 in 88(11) games in the league.

That has led to several Premier League clubs pricking their ears up at a strike rate this season of well under a goal every 3 games and the feeling is that he could be worth a club like Saints taking a punt on him.

Certainly the media will link Saints with every attacking player going, it seems likely that Graziano Pelle will depart in the summer, as well as Juanmi, not to mention the never ending Sadio Mane to Manchester United but nobody else rumours.

Wells is no youngster though, he will turn 26 in June, the peak of his career so far being his appearance for Bradford City in the League Cup Final in 2013.

So could he be the man that Ronald Koeman turns to to replace Juanmi ? Certainly he has the grounding in the very physical lower leagues that means he will have the physical attributes that the Spaniard lacked.

Southampton V Leicester City The Verdict
It was 4 in a row for Tonda Eckert & his Saints side, another polished performance that pushed us up to 11th but more importantly to the fringes of the play off spots, posing the question how a team and it's players who were so poor just 3 weeks or so ago can be so different now.
