Saints Linked With Yet Another Anderlecht Player
Saints are being linked with their third Anderlecht player of the summer transfer window according to that ever reliable media sources.
Saints are rumoured to be after Steven Defour of Anderlecht with a fee of around £6 million being touted.
For some reason Defour has never been a popular man with his own supporters at Anderlecht because of his five year stint at rivals Standard Liege.
Defour started his career with Genk and then spent five years with Standard Liege before heading to Portugal where he spent three seasons with Porto, joining Anderlecht in the summer of 2014.
He has won 46 caps for Belgium over the past decade although he did not appear in the Euro 2016 championships due to an injury that kept him out of contention for the squad although he had been involved in the qualifying rounds.
He would appear to be a direct replacement for Victor Wanyama with a reputation for being something of a central midfield enforcer, with the only drawback being his age having turned 28 in April.
However at the fee quoted he would be worth the gamble and has expressed a desire to play in the Premier League.
How concrete is this rumour ? hard to say, but the fact this is the third Anderlecht player we have been linked with this summer suggests that perhaps we are using an agency with close links to the Belgium clubs.
