Saints Chase Defrel !

Arron Sanders takes a look at the latest transfer rumours surrounding Southampton Football Club this week and news of a departure as well.

Southampton are reportedly one of several top flight clubs linked with Serie A based Frenchman Gregoire Defrel this summer.

According to an exclusive report from Italian news outlet TMW, Saints are attempting to lure the Sassuolo striker away from the Serie A side’s grasp.

Defrel’s has began to shine over the last couple of years, inevitably led to plenty of speculation regarding a possible departure, with a host of teams from across Europe closely monitoring him

Saints are already well stacked in the striking department, with the likes of Manolo Gabbiadini, Shane Long, Charlie Austin and the returning Sam Gallagher all on the books.

However, a player of Defrel's ability would certainly bolster the attacking options at the club, with Jay Rodriguez appearing on his way he could a very good replacement for the Englishman.

Moving onto news of a possible departure from St Mary's.

Paulo Gazzaniga is a man that has been linked with a Southampton exit, and he spent last season on loan at Rayo Vallecano.

The Second Division Spanish outfit appear to be impressed with the young keeper, and according to AS a Spainish media outlet, they are keen on a reunion with him this summer.

It looks unlikely that Gazzaniga has a future at the club, but it’s stated in the report that the new manager could look at assess his squad options before making a decision on players futures.

The Argentine made 32 appearances for Rayo Vallecano last season proving a prominent figure for the side.
