Not Impossible That Clasie Could Stay !

Jordie Clasie's agent has spoken about his client's future and revealed that staying at St Mary's might now be an option.

Jordy Clasie was one of those players last season who for some reason Claude Puel would not play unless he had no other choices.

It did not seem to matter what Clasie did, he would be dropped when other where available, his man of the match winning performance and goal followed by weeks of being ignored being a classic example.

Therefore the Dutchman was one of the first players to be linked with a move out of the club once the season was open and he was linked in the press with several club's on the continent, Lazio being one of them.

However his agent has spoken out and confirmed that with a new manager at St Mary's it could see him stay on the South Coast.

Clasie's gent Patrick Poldevaarr told Lalaziosiamonoi.it:

"At the moment nothing is happening with Jordy Clasie's future."

"Also, at this time, there is no certainty that he could go on loan."

"As you know, Southampton have changed coach, Mauricio Pellegrino has arrived."

"They started training this week and we must first try to understand how things will work internally at the club."

Asked whether Clasie still has a future at Southampton, the agent replied: "Nothing is impossible in football."

Certainly Clasie has yet to truly make his mark with Saints, he was injured in his first game and out for around 3 months meaning he struggled with fitness and getting into a side with a strong central midfield, however he showed enough to suggest that in his second season he might well come good.

But with his mentor Koeman gone, it was clear that new manager Claude Puel did not rate him, in the second half of the season he struggled to even get on the bench, in the final three months of the season he managed only two starts although ironically he put in great performances in both of those games leading those who saw them to wonder why Puel was ignoring him.

Certainly it indicated that the French manager was not picking the team on form and the message that it was sending out to the squad in the final third of the season was that form did not count, the manager had set beliefs and was not willing to change them.

So it looked certain that Clasie was on his way that summer, but now that could change and the Dutchman could stay and show just why he was so rated in Holland when we signed him.
