Palace Now Lead The Race For A Cheeky Loan Deal.

It looks like Saints will lose out to Crystal Palace in the race to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek, however Arron Sanders wonders whether this is really a priority area for Saints.

According to today's Daily Telegraph, Frank de Boer is set to make Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek his first signing as Crystal Palace manager.

Loftus-Cheek is close to joining on a season's loan after Palace stole a march on Saints to sign the England under-21 international ahead of further competition from Newcastle and Brighton.

Chelsea sources have revealed that Loftus-Cheek is expected to complete the formalities of his move to Palace in the next 24 hours, after he was made available for loan by Antonio Conte.

The news will disappoint those Saints supporters, who were up beat last week that the club were leading the race for the youngsters signature.

However if the latest reports do come to fruition, I am in no doubt their are plenty more targets for a central midfield player inside famous the black box.

I do find it interesting that Saints are trying to strengthen this area of the squad, as I don't see it as a priority area unlike the Centre back position but maybe a long term replacement for Steven Davis is the idea?

What do you think Saints fans should we look to strengthen in central midfield? or should we be focusing on other areas?
