Easy Win For Swans Closes Pre-Season
The Swans struck four times at the Liberty Stadium this evening as they romped past Sampdoria thanks to goals from Leroy Fer, Tammy Abraham, Federico Fernandez and a gifted own goal.
It was an impressive performance from the Swans given the quality of the opposition and going forward we could have had many more had we managed to create the chances that we should have given our possession up front.
Wayne Routledge in particular was guilty of wasting some very good ball but it was the performance of Abraham that really caught the eye with the on loan Chelsea forward always dangerous in possession and rewarded greatly with his goal.
Leroy Fer scored the only goal of the first half when he rose above the visitors defence to head home a Tom Carroll free kick. It was the least we deserved from the first half performance where we could have had more but the best was yet to come.
The second half was barely twenty seconds old when a bizarre own goal saw the lead get doubled as a Sampdoria defender passed the ball into his own net.
Abraham made it three when he combined well with Carroll and Fernandez added a fourth with a good header from a corner to finish a very satisfying afternoon for Paul Clement.
How much we can take from the game in terms of line up for next week remains to be seen but this was an excellent performance and one we should take plenty of confidence from.
Nice one Swans.
