Kingsley Exit Was A Surprise?

I have to say Hull City signing Stephen Kingsley was not something that I saw coming and it can surely only mean that we have our eyes on another full back coming in before the transfer window closes?

It emerged yesterday that Kingsley was about to join Hull as part of the discussions that will see us sign Sam Clucas to strengthen our midfield following the departure of Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Kingsley appeared 13 times in the Premier League for the Swans last season and has always been seen as the back up to Martin Olsson which makes the move more of a surprise. A loan deal would make some sense to give him regular first team football but this is being reported as a permanent move which is not one that I would have thought would have happened.

We have been linked with a move for Santiago Arias from PSV and the sale of Kingsley will surely see at least one more full back arriving at the club unless we are just planning on using the veteran Angel Rangel to provide full back cover to Naughton and Olsson. If that is the case then it seems somewhat flawed.

Kingsley certainly seemed to be one of the young players we had who had the potential to make the step up which is why the most logic would have been around a loan deal but clearly this was not to be the case.

The Stirling-born left-back also won a Scotland cap 12 months ago.

It is reported that the deal for Kingsley is not part of the deal that will see Clucas head to the Liberty but a separate transfer in its own right. Expect the term 'undisclosed fee' to be mentioned somewhere as well.
