Pellegrino Praises Long ! But Call For Better Quality In The Final Third !
Maurcio Pellegrino has praised Shane Long but has cautioned that he needs all of his strikers to start scoring goals.
Praising Long he said.
"Shane is always a hard worker and improving,”
"It’s something really important when you are deep, he is the type of player that can keep the ball and challenge in aerial play and can give this two or three seconds you need to go forward."
"I know for a striker to score goals is something that completes the job."
"I would like that from all of them because we need [Manolo] Gabbiadini, we need Charlie [Austin], we need Sofiane [Boufal], Nathan [Redmond], Dusan [Tadic] and all our offensive players, and even defensive players, to be better in the final third.”
Pellegrino is spot on, he knows that strikers need goals, once they get them then more usually follow, but strikers can only score if they have the chances, he has always maintained that the issue is about the quality of the chances created and he is right, a number of fans think that playing an extra striker will automatically solve the problem, it won't not unless the ball into the box is of better quality.
