Saints Have Defensive Boost Before Watford Trip
Saints have received a boost ahead of their trip to Watford with the news that three of their defenders could return from injury.
Mauricio Pellegrino has told his press conference ahead of the visit to Watford that he hopes to have three of his injured defenders back for the trip to Viacarage Road to take on Watford.
Wesley Hoedt looks likely to return to the starting line up after missing the last two games with Concussion suffered at Old Trafford a fortnight ago, whilst Jeremy Pied looks to have shaken off an ankle injury.
Less likely to play or at least start is Cedric Soares who has returned to training but it could be a little too soon for him to feature although he could be on the bench.
This is good news for Pellegrino who desperately needs the quality of Hoedt in the centre of his defence, not to mention a right back who actually plays there as his first position.
The return of Hoedt could be vital, he is perhaps the one man we have in the central defensive positions who is actually Premier League quality at present, Pellegrino needs his ability not just in the air, but his pace and reading of the game.
If Saints can shore up their defence a little then it will provide the foundation to go on and get something out of this game, something that is desperately needed by the manager.
