The Rolling Stones play St Mary's Stadium on Tuesday evening, many of their fans won' have visited before so here is all the information that is needed.

Southampton Football Club have issued official information and we have included most of that here along with a few local's tips for having a great time.

Can I still get tickets?

Tickets are still available to purchase via AXS with ticket prices ranging from £59.95 to £249.95. Make sure you only buy tickets through AXS (the official ticket seller for the event) to prevent the scenario of being denied entry.

Should we plan to get there extra early?

Gates will open at 5pm to enter the stadium - though if you’re there earlier, then from 3pm our Food Village will be the ideal place to enjoy the summer weather and be part of the exciting build up to the main event. A large selection of bars and food offers will ensure you are fed and watered prior to enjoying the evening’s entertainment.

Is there a support act?
The Stones will have various different support acts travelling with them during their tour this summer. British indie rock band, The Vaccines, will be opening at St Mary’s for this chapter of their ‘No Filter’ tour.

How should I arrange my travel arrangements?

There will be several road closures and strict parking restrictions around the stadium on the day of the concert and to make your journey and concert experience most enjoyable we recommend for your ease using the official park and ride service. Please note this service has to be pre-booked. Click here to book.

Southampton is served by Southampton Central Railway Station, which is approximately a mile from the stadium - roughly a 20-minute walk. The station is fully accessible to wheelchair users 24 hours a day. Please contact South Western Railway Customer Service Centre on 0345 6000 650 for any queries.

Shuttle Buses run regularly from Southampton Central Train Station and operate from the South Side (Platform 4.)

That's the official information out of the way , so if you are looking to have a drink or something to eat and don't want to pay the expensive prices in the stadium area itself read of for advice.

St Mary's Stadium

The Stadium is on the edges of the City Centre in a residential/industrial area, therefore there is little in the way of bars or restaurants or indeed parking near the stadium, if you are coming by car then we would recommend using one of the many car parks in the City Centre, the Bedford Place/London Road area has several and is handy for getting out of the city, after 6pm most of these have a flat charge of £2 for the evening.

The train station is a bit of a hike but walkable in 20 mins, if you are coming from Portsmouth by train Woolston is the other side of the Itchen Bridge and nearer, but the last train from there is 22.55, so you would be leaving it tight.

Be mindful that the bridges to get on the road to the City Centre/Station can get a bit jammed up straight after the game, so allow at least another 10 minutes possibly more to your walking time.

There are only a handful of pubs withing a half mile of the stadium, so if you want a beer or indeed something to eat then I would suggest going into the City Centre, if you are going by train then you will have to walk through it anyway.

By the Guildhall square (Thats situated under the big clock tower) there are a number of pubs all within a five minute walk, most are nothing to write home about and are chain pubs, but you aren't going for a Camra outing, many do the usual range of cheap meals in midweek as well as drinks offers.

London Road/Bedford place is a five minute walk from Guildhall square and has a better selection including a few craft beer bars, both Guildhall Square and London Road are around a 10-15 minute walk from the stadium.

As mentioned there is little in terms of food outlets or bars in between the City Centre and the Stadium, so if you think you may have a pleasant stroll and stop on the way you will be disappointed.
