Belgium International Linked With St Mary's Move

Again Saints are being linked with another winger/forward and again it's Newcastle United we are said to be in competition with for the signature.

Saints seem to be looking for a player that can be used out wide or in a more central role if you believe the press reports who seem to link us with just about every player on the Continent who can play in this position.

The reality is that most of the links probably have little substance in that although we may well have ran the potential signings through our famous black box, we don't seem to have gone too much further down the line with most of them.

With only a fortnight left of our transfer window agents are desperately trying to put their clients in the shop window and get the a lucrative move to a Premier League club, hence there will be plenty more links to come yet.

The latest is Anthony Limbombe who is currently on the books of Belgium giants Club Brugge.

Limbombe is said to have been on the verge of signing for Huddersfield but the player was unable to agree a deal over a transfer said to be in the region of £11 million.

Limbombe has history in Yorkshire with Leeds trying to sign him from his then club NEC Nijmegen in August 2015 and when that deal fell through with Leeds unwilling to increase their offer Limbombe spent time "removed" from the NEC squad as he was deemed as not being focused.

Leeds came back the following summer but it was Club Brugge who signed the player for around £2 million.

His form last season earned him a cap for the Belgium team at full international level in a friendly back in March and raised his profile, however whether he is truly Premier League quality is yet to be seen.

I would think that Saint priority is in signing a forward rather than a winger and that being the case and that with Limbombe being primarily a winger and no better than the ones we already have on our books that this is more agent talk than anything else.
