Saints At Watford The Preview

Saints need to put the defeat at Newcastle behind them and go to Watford and get a point or three on the board that will enable them to go into the final games without looking over their shoulders.

Saints go up to Vicarage Road looking to avenge the cheating injury time drama last season that saw a deliberate handball cost them two points and in doing so almost relegate them from the Premier League.

As we did against Brighton we have to use our opponents FA Cup success to our advantage and make them have one eye on Wembley and not concentrating completely on the task in hand.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has been public about demanding more from his players and that means a better start than against Newcastle, but the problem there was notwe made a slow start per se, but the way we handed them the first goal by a poor pass to put ourselves in trouble along with a failure to get a block in to stop a shot on target.

The Austrian had an excuse, injuries disrupted his defence and he had reason to question the application of his defenders as once again individual errors cost us dearly.

Hopefully we will some of the injured returning and Mario Lemina looked class in the second half up at St James Park, so there is hope that we won't repeat the performance.

The results over the weekend essentially meant that the situation at the bottom didn't change much aside from the fact that Cardiff and Brighton have played a game more and that is one game less for them to pull nearer to us.

Watford is about getting our momentum going again, putting in a performance and getting a point and perhaps three, if we do that then we can take a big leap up at Vicarage road
