Saints Have Three Out For the Manchester United Game
Just as it looked like Saints season was getting under way, suddenly it suffers a massive setback with three players likely to miss the showdown with Manchester United on Saturday.
It has already been confirmed that Nathan Redmond will miss the clash and also be likely to miss the next 3 weeks or more, but man of the moment on Saturday Moussa Djenepo looks set to miss the game and he could be joined by Michael Obafemi all casualties of the win at Fulham on Tuesday evening.
Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has given an update on his other walking wounded ahead of the game.
Moussa Djenepo lasted 90 minutes at Craven Cottage, but has a problem with a muscle which will prevent him from playing against United this weekend.
"Moussa is injured, he has a problem with his muscle and is out for the weekend."
Striker Michael Obafemi looked as though he had injured his hamstring again, but the Austrian was able to confirm it was just a case of cramp.but this is still a concern
"Michael Obafemi cramped a little bit and maybe the game at the weekend is too much for him after the game on Tuesday."
On the plus side Ryan Bertrand has returned to training after missing the wins at Brighton and Fulham with an ankle injury, however it is still too early for Hasenhuttl to be able to judge whether he is fit enough to play.
How serious the injuries are to Djenepo, Obafemi & Bertrand is hard to assess with Hasenhuttl a master at subterfuge and keeping our opponents guessing.
One thing is for sure Saints to have the squad to cope with these injuries and as big a blow as all are in their own way there are others in the squad ready to step up the plate and take their chance.
