With the rumours earlier in the week about Tottenham Hotspur's supposed interest in Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, the player himself posted an intriguing Instagram Post, but what did it mean.
Pierre Emile Hojbjerg had previously used social media to suggest that he would be staying at Saints next season and signing a new deal, but the rumour mill has been at work weaving it's spell of casting doubt in everyone's mind as various forces behind the scenes usually agent driven work to create rumour and misinformation.
Hojbjerg has again taken to social media but this time his meaning is a little clear, under a poster of himself in Saints training kit he posted just five words.
"Positivity. Persistence. Dedication. Let’s go”.
But what are the meaning of these five words, initially you could surmise that they are referring to this weeks training at Staplewood and the upcoming game against Newcastle United, certainly it would be the type of message that you would expect from the team captain and a rallying call to both his team mates and the Saints supporters.
Hojbjerg has always been a positive player even when he found himself completely ignored by Mauricio Pellegrino for the first 2 1/2 months of the then Saints manager's reign, not playing a single game till the 29th October in the 2017/18 season.
Back then it would have been easy to have thrown his toys out of the pram but he knuckled down acted professionally and forced his way back into the team and has been a virtual ever present since.
But these five words on instagram this week could be referring to that time when undoubtedly at the lowest point in his career he remained positive, remained persistent and remained dedicated to regaining his place back in the team.
That time would have taught the Dane several important lessons both in terms of being focused on your own career but it could also have equally shown him that in football there is no loyalty, one minute you are a regular, the next you are out of the squad with no good reason, football club's will put you on a pedestal when it suits them, but equally they will drop you like a stone.
Modern day footballers are very well paid, but equally how they are treated by their club's depends on how well they are playing, these days players have no loyalty, but equally club's have no real loyalty to players either.
Has Hojbjerg been scarred by his issues back then or is he still committed to the Saints cause.
He seems to have been committed this season and payed in several positions which like James Ward Prowse haven't always helped him get consistency in his game, but he has been a key player in our revival this season and indeed last.
Everything he has said so far has not suggested that he wants to leave the club, but as we have found out in the past, players who have been very happy to sign a contract one minute suddenly have their heads turned and the next are demanding that they be allowed to join a so called big club who will offer them far more money.
Truth is these days you can't blame them for going, football is now polarised between the Big Six and the rest, most of the players who have gone have not only got far more in wages than they Saints could have afforded, but they have been able to genuinely challenge for honours at their new clubs, perhaps the only exception being Jose Fonte who opted for West Ham United, when he could have stayed and played in an EFL Cup Final.
The truth is we won't find out Pierre's intentions till the summer, the transfer window doesn't open for almost three months, everything out there now is only rumour and speculation, we do not know if he is really Spurs number one transfer target, or it is just his agents putting rumour out to drive a better deal from Saints.
