Saints Interested In Towering Defender
Saints are being linked with a "towering" defender from the Championship, would it be a good or bad move ?
The man in question is Millwall defender Jake Cooper who according to my metres to feet conversion chart stands at almost 6ft 5 inches.
He started at Reading where he made 42 first team appearances in the Championship before going out on loan to Millwall in January 2017, in the summer of that year at 22 Reading clearly felt he had not made the breakthrough and he joined the South London club on a permanent deal in the summer of the same year.
Since then he has been a mainstay of their defence having made 117(3)League appearances to add to his 17 on loan.
The question is though can he make the jump from the Championship to the Premier League, for every player that can there are two that don't.
One thing he would be though is a bargain, his contract expires in the summer so he would at 25 presumably be available on a free, so from this perspective he could be a chance worth taking.
The reality though is that this is little more than his agent trying to generate interest from clubs ready for the summer.
