Saints Linked To Next Ibrahimovic
I don't know how any one can be linked to anyone in this lockdown, but where there is a will there is an agent who will spread a rumour, here is the latest one.
Italina media outlet Tuttomercatoweb reports that The Saints have been watching Gianluca Scamacca’s development closely in the Italian second tier for Ascoli.
A 6ft 4ins centre-forward with the skill and style to bely his rangy frame comparisons with Ibrahimovic are easy to make.
Scamacca has 11 goals in 25 games for Ascoli this season and is finally starting to fulfil the promise he showed at 16 that lead to his signing for PSV Eindhoven.
His career hasn't really taken off so far, he left PSV in 2017 and joined Sassuolo on loan and in the past three years has had several spells at other clubs on loan including back to Holland with PEC Zwolle before another loan spell this season with Ascoli.
According to Corriere dello Sport, AC Milan have identified Scamacca as the ideal candidate to fill a giant, Zlatan-shaped void in their frontline come the summer.
But they also claim that a move to AC would not be a good idea at this stage of his development as the pressure on him would be so great and therefore a much better move would be to Southampton where he would have the time to develop.
As I said at this time it is difficult to see where al this is coming from aside from the players agent who would be keen to talk up his player into a big money move.
Scamacca's who is under contract to Sassuolo till 2023 current value according to transfer markt, that price could rise, but if the price is still low it could be worth Saints having a punt,
