Saints Long Term Target Feel He Will End Up At St Mary's

Saints have long been linked with Genk's Joakim Maehle, now the full back has spoken to the media to say that he feels that he will end up at Southampton going forward.

Joakim Maehle has told media Danish media outlet Ekstra Bladet he believes he will sign for the Saints despite a previous failed move, when it was reported that Saints had a £11.5 million bid turned down as Genk resisted all overtures with West Ham & Crystal Palace also said to be interested from the Premier League and Atalanta, Fiorentina, Seville and Valencia from Italy & Spain.

Maehle's contract was recently extended to 2023, but he believes that he will leave the club in the summer with Genk wanting to cash in due to the financial issues they will face due to the Corona Virus..

"Southampton's interest was concrete, but their bid was not high enough, but I still believe that one day I might end up in Southampton and the Premier League,"

"The stories of all the other clubs I have learned to live with just like my family and friends."

" I don't know anything about it, but maybe my agent doesn't tell everything, but as I said, only Southampton have really been in the picture"

Certainly Saints appear to be being linked with right backs, there are issues with Yan Valery that are not quite apparent and Kyle Walker Peter's face just doesn't appear to fit in with Ralph.
