Saints Raiding Celtic Again But Will It Be A Double Swoop

Over the weekend Saints were linked with Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer, now it seems they may be also looking at a player linked earlier in the summer after missing out on Weston McKennie to Juventus.

Saints have not yet signed a replacement for Pierre Emile Hojbjerg and after missing out on McKennie there were some who thought that perhaps the club would seek to replace from within, but the latest rumours are about a name from earlier in the summer Olivier Ntcham of Celtic.

Ntcham has fallen out of favour with Neil Lennon due to his demands for a move, but also because to be blunt given that Celtic dominate most games in an uncompetitive SPL and they are now out of the Champions League, so do they need a strong defensive central midfield player.

With two years now left on his contract the Celts are aware that if he sees out ths season then his transfer value may plummet, so may be keen to sell now.

Back in May it was suggested that given the players lack of minutes on the pitch last season that Celtic might be happy just recouping the £4.5 million paid for him from Manchester City, I think that is a bit hopeful, but certainly now they are out of the Champions league the Scottish club will be looking to trim the wage bill and bring in some transfer cash.

At the weekend Kristoffer Ajer was linked and the central defender could still well head to St Mary's in a double deal, we covered his details in an article on Sunday(link below)

If Ajer is available at the right price then it could be a double swoop and Mo Eyounoussi could be the bait in the deal, although the stumbling block in that may be his wages at St Mary's being far higher than he could expect at Celtic.

Certainly Saints two positions were they are not as strong as the rest of the Premier League at the moment is the centre of defence and a holding midfield player, but are these two the answer even at the right price, we will soon find out.
