Ralph Speaks About Contract Talks With Danny Ings
Ralph Hasenhuttl has been speaking to the German media and one of the subjects brought up has been Danny Ings contract situation, read what our manager has to say about what's happening here.
Whilst talking to German football media outlet Kicker, Ralph was asked about the contract situation of Bayern Munich's David Alaba who has been linked with a January move to Liverpool give the Anfield club's current injury woes in the centre of defence.
The Saints boss remains hopeful he and his side won’t be in a similar situation as the Bundesliga winners are with Alaba.
"I don’t know the background, but it will be hard to find a face-saving solution for all parties. I hope we do not get into a similar situation,” Hasenhüttl explained.
"So, we have some players who are in demand, for example Danny Ings, where we are trying to extend the contract. We know that the player, who has a very high value in the club and among the fans, is also aware of this responsibility.
"Hopefully he will be advised well. We may not be a top six club, but I hope we have enough other arguments to convince him.”
So it seems contract talks remain ongoing, but far from concluded, in truth Hasenhuttl's words can sound worrying, but it should be noted that coaches and players from Germany & Austria are a lot more forthright than their English counterparts who usually keep their cards to their chests.
That can mean that they often give an answer in English that sounds very factual, but actually loses something in translation, I certainly hope so in this instance.
