One Month To Go Until The January Transfer Window Silly Season
The January transfer window is always a month or madness, but when does it open and close this season ? With the late start to the season will that mean a change in dates in next month's silly season transfer window.
The answer is that although this season started a few weeks later than usual, it is only ending a week later than it normally would in May, therefore the window in January will open on Saturday January 2nd 2021 and then close on February 1st at 11pm, and I assume the usual few hours extension for clubs to lodge the paper work at the FA.
Unlike the summer window just gone it seems that there will be no extra period for clubs outside the Premier League, the window will slam shut for all clubs on February 1st.
It will be interesting to see what deals will be done, clubs will have had to cut their cloth to match their finances and those finances are decidedly lower than normal due to the absences of fans.
Whether that will mean less transfer or the same number of transfers but lower prices is uncertain as of yet, so this years silly season might be a bit more sane than it normally is.
From a Saints perspective, historically they do not like doing business in January, they feel the market is one of panic buying and therefore prices are pushed up and you have to pay over the odds for players not worth the money.
Still whatever happens he rumour mill is already being oiled and will be in full flow in the next few days to build up to a crescendo in January, but will all the agents be wasting their time spreading rumour after rumour for little return.
