Che Adams Set To Be Called Up To The Scotland Squad For The Euros

According to reports from North of the border Che Adams could be playing in the European Championships this summer but not for the country of his birth England, but near neighbours Scotland.

The Scottish Record has revealed that firstly Alex Mcleish and his successor as Scottish national team manager Steve Clarke have been trying to woo Che Adams to throw his lot in with the Tartan Army for the past couple of years and it seems that Clarke has got his man and the Scots are getting a little excited about it.

Of course some Scots see this as little more than opportunistic on the part of Adams, but it seems the majority look at it as a major opportunity for the Scots to make some progress at their first major tournament since 1998, back then Adams would still be a month shy of his second birthday as the Jocks went out bottom of their group and as is traditional arrived home before the postcards.

Adams has represented England at U20 level, but turning 25 in July a full England call up has never been on the cards, but the Leicester born striker's father was from Antigua and they too have been wooing him for the last couple of years, but it seems finally he has accepted that an England call up is unlikely and is ready to pledge his allegiance to Scotland.

That comes through one of his maternal Grandparents and he is now set to play in the Euros, this of course will offer him the best of both Worlds , for he will not only get to play in a major tournament, but unlike the England players who have to hang around to the quarter final stage before a controversial exit either by penalties or due to a sending off and thus miss out on extra time on a sun kissed beach, Adams will play a few games and then be heading off on holiday long before his England counterparts.

Whether he will be heading to Cuba is not known, the Scottish Record have picked up on an old interview in which he confirms he is named after Cuban revolutionary leader Che Guervara:

"Yeah, it was where I got my name from. Che Guevara was in the news around the time that I was born and I think it was something to do with where his body was buried, although I’m not sure."My mum just really liked the name. So that’s it.”

But it is not a beret he will be wearing in the summer but a kilt and when he passes the ball to his team mates they will be saying Ta MacAdams ! (groan)
