Vote For Matt Le Tissier In The Premier League Hall Of Fame Elections !

Don't worry the man Saints supporters call Le God isn't standing in the local elections, rather he has been nominated for the Premier League Hall Of Fame and it needs all fans of Southampton FC to get online and vote for him before 9th May.

Saints legend Matthew Le Tissier has been included in a 23-man shortlist to be inducted into the newly launched Premier League Hall of Fame.

The Hall of Fame recognises and honours former players who have an exceptional record of on-pitch success and have shown significant contribution to the Premier League since its inception in 1992.

For Saints fans Le God's contribution to Southampton FC started long before the Premier League was even thought of , by 1992 he had racked up almost 6 years since his debut in 1986, indeed he had been voted PFA Young Player of the Year for the 1989—90 season when the top flight was still the old First Division.

The Hall of Fame was launched this week with inaugural inductees Thierry Henry and former Southampton striker, Alan Shearer who ironically left the Dell just before the first ever Premier League season and therefore never played for the club in the competition.

Fans are now invited to select an additional six players from the 23-man shortlist to join the duo, with their votes combined with the Premier League Awards Panel votes to determine the six players who will be inducted.

The Premier League Hall of Fame will exist online, with dedicated content on www.premierleague.com. Inducted players will receive a medallion engraved with their name and the year of their induction.

The other shortlisted players are: Tony Adams, David Beckham, Dennis Bergkamp, Sol Campbell, Andy Cole, Eric Cantona, Ashley Cole, Didier Drogba, Les Ferdinand, Rio Ferdinand, Robbie Fowler, Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane, Frank Lampard, Michael Owen, Peter Schmeichel, Paul Scholes, John Terry, Robin Van Persie, Nemanja Vidic, Patrick Viera, Ian Wright.

Given the heavy bias towards the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool who of course have online fans across the globe, it will be hard to get Le Tiss into the top six and perhaps it shows just where football is going and indeed has gone under the Premier League in that these players will get a lot of votes from those who weren't even born when they played in the Premier league, but will vote purely because they played for their club.

But the fact that there will be territorial voting may open the way in for Matt, you have to vote for six players and therefore a Chelsea fan for instance will not be able to just vote entirely for players from his own team, he might be loathe to vote for those who played for United, Chelsea or Arsenal so a vote for Matt might be a good option for him.

So we need all Saints fans to get on line and get voting, share this story and the link with all your friend and social media etc and lets get Matt Le Tissier into the hall of fame.
