Southampton Announce Pre Season Traning Camp And Friendlies Abroad
With the Covid 19 restrictions heading for the date they can be eased, Saints have announced they will be heading out of England and into another country, Wales to be exact, for a pre season training camp and they have also lined up two friendly games .
Saints will be crossing the Severn and heading into Wales for pre season this summer as this seems to be the only country other than England they will be able to get in and out of safely at present.
The majority of the squad will report back to Staplewood on Monday July 5th for the start of pre season training, whilst those away playing International football will be afforded a later return to the club, depending on just when their duties with their respective countries ended.
But those who are back by late July will be joining their colleagues at the training base in Wales which will include two friendlies against Cardiff at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday 27th July (7pm ) and then Swansea on Saturday 31st July (3pm ) at the Liberty Stadium.
Our last visit to Cardiff in December 2018 was the first game in charge for Ralph Hasenhuttl where we went down 1-0 after a poor back pass from Jannik Vestergaard.
Saints last visit to Swansea in May 2018 saw a tense 1-0 victory where a goal by Manolo Gabbiadini gave Saints victory in the penultimate game of the season in a do or die match that effectively secured our premier League safety.
There is no information at present on whether supporters will be permitted into those games and if so how many and whether visiting Saints supporters will be allowed to go.
There will be further games in the pipeline as Saints gear up for the big kick off against Everton on Saturday 14th August.
