Villa Manager Claims Danny Ings Will Miss The Trip To Southampton
Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has given an injury update on his squad as they travel to St Mary's on Friday evening and he has told the pre match press conference that Danny Ings will not be making the trip to Saints.
Danny Ings has so far in his career scored against all of his former clubs, he did so for Saints against all three of Bournemouth, Burnley & Liverpool, so the worry amongst Saints supporters was that he would come back to haunt us this weekend.
However it seems that Ings will not be in the Villa squad after Dean Smith gave his injury updates on his squad.
Speaking ahead of the game on his injury list Smith had this to say:
"Morgan Sanson and Jaden Philogene-Bidace are back in training but Danny Ings, Bertrand Traoré and Douglas Luiz are still out."
Smith will also be missing Ezri Konza after the defenders sending off against West Ham on Sunday.
From a Saints perspective it will be a help that Ings will be missing for his return to his home town, not only from the perspective that he is likely to score, but also it will take the focus off of the very hot welcome he is likely to receive.
Saints supporters will be able to concentrate on the task ahead of beating Villa instead of booing every time Ings touches the ball and perhaps spurring him and his Villa team mates on.
