Ritsu Doan The Latest Name To Be Linked With Southampton

With the opening of the January Transfer window only weeks away, the rumours will start to pick up with players being linked with moves as their agents try to ramp up interest in their clients, here is one linked with being the new Dusan tadic

Saints could head back to the Eridivisie as they did back in 2014 when they signed Dusan Tadic, sometimes Tadic had his critics, but with 24 goals & 35 assists in 162 appearances his record statistically stands up to scrutiny and he had a knack for not only the odd special goal, but vital ones as well.

Some Saints fans feel that the flair of Tadic is missed when the team goes forward, that we have no one in the side who can change a game with that bit of individual skill that suddenly turns a game with a goal out of nowhere or that defence splitting pass.

Italian media outlet Calciomercato are reporting that Saints are interested in signing 23-year-old PSV Eindhoven winger Ritsu Doan, who has 19 goals and eight assists under his belt in the Eredivisie in 86 appearances with FC Groningen and PSV.

Doan is said to be a player in the same vein as Tadic in that he can play in a number of roles including as an out and out winger or as a play maker.

The 23 year old Japanese International signed for PSV Eindhoven from Groningen in the summer of 2019 for £19 million. but struggled and was loaned out last season.

This season he has re established himself in the PSV squad but is not a regular starter and could be looking for a move away, his value has dropped a little and Saints could get him for around £5-6 million.

Saints are stacked up with wide players at the moment so his position is not a priority, but could they see the chance to pick up a bargain in January.
