Our spy in the cab has given us a little heads up about the potential for traffic chaos in Southampton City centre on Saturday for the game against the Eagles, on top of the 30,000 at St Mary's there are 4 cruise ships in.
Saints fans might want to check their travel plans for Saturday when Saints take on Crystal Palace, the City Centre is bustling on a Saturday with shoppers and when Saints play at home that adds 30,000 to the total pouring in.
But this Saturday sees 4 cruise ships into the Port of Southampton and not only that, but one of them, the Iona is the largest in the P & O fleet.
This ship alone has the capacity for 5,200 passengers and has a crew of 1,800 so potentially in the morning there will be the departure of those leaving the ship and almost as soon as that has finished the next set of passengers will be arriving .
She is set to berth at the Ocean Terminal accessed by Dock Gate 4, which means that the traffic will be intense in the West Quay/Town Quay/Terminus Terrace/Platform Road area from around midday.
Traffic ground to a halt earlier in the week in this area and backed up traffic beyond it and that was not with anything like the number of passengers coming through the port, let along adding Saturday shoppers and football fans.
So for those that tend to drive in and use the car parks at the bottom end of town or Ocean Village and come in via the above roads, then you might like to reconsider parking elsewhere.
Likewise Millbrook Road & Mountbatten Way will be busier than usual.
