Southampton Will Play Luton Or Grimsby In The 5th Round Of The FA Cup
Saints have drawn in the 5th round of the FA Cup, could this be a great year for Saints to actually win something, what price winning both domestic cup competitions.
Saints could host Nathan Jones old side Luton Town after coming out first in the draw and now face either Luton Town or Grimsby Town, most Saints fans will be happy with that draw, firstly as it is a home tie and secondly because it is against either Championship or League Two opposition.
Older Saints supporters will remember meeting Grimsby back in the 1977/78 season when after two draws Saints triumphed in a second replay 4-1 played at Leicester City's ground Filbert Street.
Besides Nathan Jones Luton connections, two other Saints bosses have connections with the other side Grimsby, Lawrie McMenemy of course joined Saints as manager back in 1973 from the Mariners and Chris Nicholl joined them as player coach after leaving the Dell in the summer of 1983, returning just two years later to replace his old boss Lawrie.
The Full draw is as follows.
Saints V Luton/Grimsby
Leicester City v Blackburn Rovers or Birmingham City
Stoke City v Brighton
Wrexham or Sheffield United v Tottenham
Fulham or Sunderland v Leeds United
Bristol City v Manchester City
Manchester United v Derby County or West Ham
Ipswich Town or Burnley v Sheffield Wednesday or Fleetwood Town
