Saints Could Face Nathan Jones On Saturday

According to media reports Nathan Jones is emerging as a strong contender to take over as manager at Millwall and his first game in charge could be against his last employers Southampton FC.

The Daily Echo is one of the media outlets that is reporting that Nathan Jones is emerging as the favourite to take over from Gary Rowett who was sacked by Millwall in October.

They say that according to some media sources Jones has impressed during talks held with the South London club and the Millwall hierarchy consider him to be a good fit for the club.

That will all sound a little familiar to Saints supporters who did not take to Jones from the very start due to his long ball football style.

So it would be ironic if jones was named as the new Millwall boss before the weekend and was therefore able to take his place in the dugout at the Den to face his former club.

It would be interesting to see the reception he receives from the away section, I would suspect it would be very hostile and not a warm welcome, however that would be perhaps counter productive as I'm sure that Jones would be keen to use this as something to stir up his new charges should he get the job.

Nathan Jones was not hated by Saints fans as a person in the main, but purely for footballing reasons and he was clearly out of his depth in the Premier League, that does not make him a bad man or indeed worthy of abuse, it was a poor appointment made by those that have now left the club, it was rectified quickly after only 8 league games in charge. during which he amassed only 1 win and 7 defeats.
