Southampton U21 Fixture With Manchester United Postponed
Saints were due to take on Manchester United's U21 side at The Snows Stadium in Totton on Friday evening, but due to the weather this games has now been postponed.
Southampton V Manchester United is always a fixture that evokes memories for Saints supporters, be it the 1976 FA Cup Final or other great cup ties over the course of the last 50 years or so.
But the Snows Stadium pitch is waterlogged and with more rain forecast a pitch inspection on Thursday found that it was unlikely to get any better by Friday evening and therefore the game has been called off with good notice so that United don't have to make the 226 mile journey South.
Southampton FC have said
"The rearranged fixture details will be confirmed in due course, with full refunds automatically issued to supporters who have purchased tickets for the game's original date.
"Supporters are advised to allow up to 3-5 working days for ticket refunds to process, and they will need to re-book tickets once the new fixture date is confirmed."
