Southampton V Sunderland In Pictures
After our pictorial view earlier today of our 8-0 thrashing of the Black Cats, we take a look at some of the other games at St Mary's in recent times, how many can you remember.
On 5th March 2016, Sunderland arrived at St Mary's, they left with a 1-1 draw, Jermaine Defoe gave the visitors the lead on 85 minutes, shortly after Jose Fonte had been sent off, but Virgil Van Dijk rescued us in the final minute.
Ironically our 65% possession was 15% more than we had enjoyed in the previous season's 8-0 rout.

Just over 5 months later in August and Sunderland returned in the Premier League, but the game went in similar fashion, another 1-1 draw, Jermaine Defoe again gave them a late lead, this time in the 80th minute and a late equaliser from Jay Rodrigues made it honours even.

Two months later in October Sunderland were back for their third visit to St Mary's in 7 months and what would be their last for almost 8 years up to now, this time it was in the League cup, a Sofiane Boufal wonder strike gave us a 1-0 win.
