Everton Announce Final Day Farewell To Goodison Celebrations At Saints Game

Southampton fans heading to Merseyside to witness their team playing Everton in the last ever competitive game to be held at Goodison Park will be interested to know what is being planned before and after the game, here are the details.

The Liverpool Echo have announced what will be happening on Sunday 18th May when Everton take on Southampton in the final ever game at Goodison Park.

The reveal that before the match the match a special coach welcome will be organised to welcome the players. That is set to be organised by the 1878s supporters' group and will I imagine be something in line with the welcome that Saints players received at St Mary's ahead of the play off semi final against West Brom last year.

The route and timings of the coach welcome will be confirmed closer to the date of the game, but Saints fans should be aware that the roads around the ground will be very congested in the two hours before kick off.

Once the game itself has ended there will be time for supporters to head to the concourses to buy food and drink, including alcohol, before returning to their seats for the on-the-pitch show.

After the match their will be a special ‘End of an Era’ celebration after the final whistle of the game. Guest presenters, current and former players and live music will all feature as part of the post-match entertainment to mark the historic occasion.

The event will last for around an hour

Everton and Merseyside Police are asking supporters without a ticket for the match not to travel to or congregate around Goodison Park, the organisations stating: "This is to protect the safety of local residents, fans, players, staff, and to allow those inside the stadium to fully participate in what will be a deeply significant day for the Everton family.”
