The lead at the top of the Championship seems to be changing every week and now Swansea City arrive at St Mary's top of the pile and we need to send them packing as we did to Millwall, who were themselves top when they arrived just over a week ago.
This time last week we were filled with optimism after Millwall were despatched 5-1 at St Mary's, we were hopefully that by 11pm that night we would not only have beaten Birmingham, but landed a new player or two on the closing day of the transfer window.
Just 7 days later and it almost seems that an air of despondency is around the club, reminiscent of a year ago under Will Still.
We didn't land a new striker and experienced centre half or a big strong midfield player, just a 20 year old in Zach Abbott who has played just 3 League games for Nottingham Forest, 2 Cup games and 7 in the Europa League.
The draw at Birmingham was seen as a point dropped and the lead up for the trip to Lincoln was full of social media posts critical of the club.
The draw at Lincoln felt like a defeat due to the late equaliser from the home side, but the main talking point was that Tonda Eckert had effectively thrown the points away due to a series of poor substitutions.
I am not going to argue too much about that point, 3 key players were taken off and those that replaced them did not perform at anywhere near the level that was needed on the day.
But the underlying fact is that we came through two tough away games unbeaten and we have hopefully learned some lessons from them in building the foundations for another long unbeaten run.
Tonight we have to continue to build and Tonda Eckert has to show us that he has seen what we all saw in terms of substitutions.
I dont expect many changes to the starting line up from Saturday, Jack Stephens will stay in the side and partner Keven Schlotterbeck, although I do expect to see Zach Abbott on the pitch at some stage.
I expect Ryan Manning to return at left back, Welington was good on Saturday, he was the right man for the job, one that needed the physicality that Welington had but Manning didn't, but Manning has earned the right to be first choice and when we play at home we should be positive about attacking and not defensive minded.
The central midfield of Ward-Prowse, Downes & Azaz was perhaps the one shining light in the draw at Lincoln, JWP & Downes looked a strong midfield pairing who could get stuck in and win the ball and use it and Azaz is our play maker he makes things happen.
Out wide Leo Scienza has not yet quite ignited, but he has still fizzled in small doses and contributed, on the other wing I expect Kuryu Matsuki to keep his place.
The biggest issue in the side though is up front, Cyle Larin has been perhaps our best player so far this season, but the key to last year was the ability to interchange him with Ross Stewart, something that kept things fresh up front.
To be blunt Divin Mubama has show little to suggest that he is offering anything up front, on Saturday he looked lost when he came on, the same could be levelled at him at Birmingham, I don't want to write him off just yet, after all he scored against Stoke City so he has contributed, but things haven't looked good and if Larin got injured then we would be in trouble.
But so far this season the Championship has been very open, the clubs that we thought would be up there, apart from Middlesbrough have not been and the likes of QPR, Swansea, Charlton, West Brom & Bristol City, all clubs who struggled last season have been leading the pack.
So this is a crucial week for us, two home games against teams right up there, we get two wins and the mood will have changed drastically, anything less than 4 points from the two games and we will start to lose ground.
We need the team and performance that we saw against Millwall to come to the fore, we know what we did last season and what we can do this season as shown in the last home game.
Yes we have lost 3 key players, but it should also be remembered that Shea Charles was injured for a large part of Tonda Eckerts opening flurry as manager and are subsequent unbeaten run and Ross Stewart didn't return from injury till late January.
Only Harwood-Bellis was a constant and the only game he has played this season in the League was the defeat at Watford so we have shown we can win and indeed not lose games without him.
So we have to be positive going forward, after 4 games last season we only had 5 points, this season we effectively have 8, but even with the 4 point deduction we are only a point worse off than Will Still's side last season.
The fifth game last season was the 0-0 draw against Pompey, so beat Swansea tonight and we are better off than last season, the 6th was the debacle at Hull, so our next two games are crucial.
I say this every week, but we truly need the crowd to be behind us, but this season I have only seen that when things have been going well, we need it to be more positive.
I have watched people sit silently in their seats wearing shirts that will have cost them near on £90 with the names on the back included, yet they have uttered not one word of encouragement to the team, I have seen people pay a lot of money to go to away games yet sat down looking at social media rather than not even watch the game let alone support the team.
On Saturday at Lincoln I saw their red wall as such never stop singing for the whole game, it stirred the crowd up.
Yes leading the way was their little Ultras group with a drum constantly banging, but it stirred them on, despite their being only around 9,000 home fans in the crowd, they made a racket whilst in the main our support was silent.
A lot of people deride the Ultra culture at football clubs and i saw a lot of people moaning about the banging drum, I didn't hear that at Lincoln, I just saw some amazing noise made by their support.
We could certainly could do with some of that tonight and going forward in these difficult times for our club.
I don't condemn anyone for not spending the entire game singing their hearts out, I certainly am not one of those that do, but we can all add to the atmosphere with a little vocal support for the team.
