The History Of TheSilkWeb
For anyone new to the internet, here is a very brief history of TheSilkWeb internet site along with the Silkmag fanzine.
In the summer of 1998 TheSilkWeb was formed and hosted on some webspace over at Freeserve (remember them!). There wasn't many Macc websites around at that time. The official one had just started up by Mike Griffith's whilst there was an old Audio Visual site showing Silkmen goals. Lars also had an on-line Scandinavian Silkmen website.
In 1999 TheSilkWeb was approached by American company rivals.com who at the time had a very popular American football fans network and they wanted to start up a UK football network. It launched later that year and TheSilkWeb was one of the most popular sites on the network. For a small club like ours it wasn't a bad achievement.
It was so good that we brought out a fanzine called TheSilkMag which ended up as Ryan's Knob. It did well, sold quite a lot of copies and we got good feedback.
In the summer of 2007 I got an email from a chap asking me to join a breakaway site which the majority of the rivals publishers were going to join. So after years of broken promises from rivals we all hopped over to Clubfanzine. To say it wasn't the smoothest move over is an understatement. It was bad. Really bad. Publishers quickly moved back to rivals and left most of us in the lurch.
But a few stuck with it and it was ok after a few months.
TheSilkWeb took a break at the end of the 2008/09 season but is now back and hopefully better than before.

Southampton At Leicester The DebacleThe big question is how can a side that was so tight at the back, so clinical up front and who could pass the ball around almost with their eyes closed, become the disorganised rabble that they were at the Leicester City this evening.
