Here we go again, Ralph! Southampton FC is only " A SMALL CLUB " - Geo hasn't got the money to invest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes he has hardly any money from paying off his loans - SORRY FROM US PAYING OFF HIS LOANS - FOR HIM! .......... Where has all the excess transfer money gone ? .... more and more verbal diarrhea from Ralph who has just paid off MH £6 million.
Not having a go at Angus Gunn directly ------- BUT - Is it really sensible AND GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE ............ IF WE ARE SO "CASH-STRAPPED "when we are DESPERATE FOR A QUALITY STRICKER AND CH ..............They go and buy another high-class goalkeeper TO WARM THE BENCH ---While we have an ex - ENGLAND keeper twiddling his thumbs EVERY F8ING WEEK AND PAYING HIM nearly £400,0000 per month - Well that makes good economic sense Ralph ADD to that all the players " out on loan " and probably " topping up their wages as well! ............. What's all that about then Ralph?

The little runt is correct, and really only scratching the surface, it would be almost impossible to sell 50% of the squad. Unless, it was bargain basement prices to lower league teams! Sad but true!

Let's not get too excited about his just yet.

First, as we have a full 'roster' isn't it just a matter of the rules that we have to lose a few before we can buy more. I may be wrong, but isn't there a limit on squad size in the Premier League.

Secondly, do we know for sure that there won't be funds available to augment whatever incoming transfer fees we get? Getting rid of players is as much about getting rid of the wage commitments as the transfer fee.

Thirdly, he's a fellow in demand. Would he really have come on the basis that the only funds available were what he could raise?

Finally, I am hoping he is going to be able to bring a knowledge of the German game sufficient for us to be able to snap up some better players without having to pay silly money for them.

(P.S. The fact that Carillo is scoring won't do his price any harm).

I wonder if the new boos might even decide he wants to look at Carillo. If he's scoring in Spain he might be worth looking at again by a new manager. He's only on loan.

Dorsetian this is far too sensible a post for a Saints message board, Sky sports have spoken so it must be true, people would rather that Krueger had not said, "we are not intending to be active in transfer marking in January but funds are available if we need to" as if that is taken at face value they will be unable to froth at the mouth.

They would rather he had said that " We are aware of the desperation of the situation and have earmarked £30 million for January " that way he can alert all the selling clubs so they can put up their prices meaning we can break our transfer record on another Carrillo, that then allows more mouth frothing over a six month period.

People are far happier to take stories in the media to suit their own agendas, hence we are a selling club who can't get rid of players fast enough, people forget about Van Dijk and what happened then when we dug our heals in and told him he had to stay.

Anyway at least it's entertaining now so people will flood back

For a start you have all jumped on the wrong Ralph.

It was reported that Ralph the new manager has taken the job knowing that he will have to sell before he can buy. They then then said good luck to hinm trying to sell the 3 mentioned above. Which is a fair point as there wont be any clubs queuing up to buy them.
Maybe we can unload Target to Fulham and Prowse to Watford if they are still wanted. But we have very few assets outside of the first team.

Now i find it hard to beleive that Ralph would take the job without abit of a transfer budget. However saints have wasted all the Tadic/Van Dyke money and we are a club that only spoends what we bring in. I would be amazed if we shell out 20mill in the window.

Sorry ASIS, but that was difficult to read although I see where you're coming from

According to last nights Echo there was a feature on Forster and apparently there have been opportunities for him to go but he felt they were "not suitable" but they won't say in which way - lower division, warming bench (better than not being in the match day squad?) or not enough pay ………………….. take your pick!

Spot on, I would be more concerned if the club came out saying they had x amount of money to spend.

With the money in football now I am sure every Premier League team could spend money. It is how we spend it that worries me more!

All we need in January is a decent centre half. Cahill on loan would be a good shout if we could get him.

Same goes for Boufal. Undoubted talent - but he fell out with Hughes back in April. Maybe the new boss will wipe the slate clean & take a look at him?

It seems there are a lot of fans looking for Saints information just about anywhere they can!
But this is normal behaviour when SFC decide the best way to keep the fans informed is silence, even during very stressful periods the club to fans communications has been negligent.
A statement of intent saying we will be participating in the January transfer market does not need actual figures to be quoted. Nobody needs to show their hand, just give the fans some positive reassurance that problems are being worked on.

Isn't he away for the season or is there a bring back clause? I'd have him back as he no doubt has the talent but maybe needed someone to guide him in the right direction which wasn't there and could be now?

A statement of intent tells a selling club something and that is someone is desperate to buy so the club is caught inbetween a rock and a hard place, on one hand its fans are demanding statements of intent and f they do that then it will alert other clubs to the fact that we are desperate to buy.

What they have said so far is the right thing that they are looking at the squad and they will see in January
