Car mechanics 10:54 - May 6 with 1292 views | waynekerr55 | Morning all I've borrowed a diagnostic kit from work and the following error codes are present on my Mk4 golf: Passive/sporadic: 17978 - ECM disabled 16989 - internal control module ROM test error 00287 - rear ABS speed sensor circuit malfunction Active 17563 - MAP sensor test error (I believe this is the manifold sensor) 18039 - accelerator position sensor -g79 signal too high Does anyone know how many hours labour would be involved for these jobs? Also, talk about timing, the CV joint seems to have packed in on my Mrs' 2006 Polo 1.4 (the CV joint kit is 44 quid from Euro car parts) - any idea of the amount of labour required for that job? Her coolant sensor has packed in again (that can wait a little) and the other code on hers was the Read DTC module of A/C controller (18049 active) I'm based in Herts so need to budget accordingly! Cheers!

Partially - it failed the MOT in September but I'm toying with the idea of repairing if not too steep. It's got 233k on the clock but I've had it since 72.5k and I know the enging is bullet proof (plus it had a new clutch and flywheel about 18 months ago) Any idea how much labour is involved changing a CV joint?

The Golf sounds like a case of it being worth far more to you than anyone else. My mate has an 03 plate Tdi and that’s up above 320k of mostly M4 commuting. Not sure about the specifics of a Polo CV joint. Labour will depend on whether the entire shaft needs disassembly. You might have to get three telephone quotes for that.

Car mechanics on 20:44 - May 6 with 1067 views | majorraglan | Get on a VW forum, there’s bound to be some VW mechanics on there who can assist. The MOT changed last May and it’s now much more stringent on emission tests, may be worth getting an expert view from a garage up there or alternatively bring it down here where Labour rates are sure to be cheaper.

When the repair bill is more than the worth of the car Surely it’s not worth doing up You have already fitted a new clutch and a flywheel and although you may have another 50-70k more mileage left on the nine. You need to consider what else will go I find it strange you have had to replace a flywheel and if something like that has gone. Then how good is your gearbox Around where I’m living some garages are charging £60 per hour I wouldn’t be surprised that arond Cardiff and Swansea it could be even more

I'm in North Herts. With regards flywheel and clutch my neighbour bought my car and repaired it, then he sold it back to me cost price 😂
