A bit more. "Here we are, in one of the most depressed towns in Southern England, a place that is arguably too full of drugs, obesity, underachievement and Labour MPs."

So, Labour south had it’s first ever labour MP in 2017, and Portsmouth North hasn’t been labour for almost 10 years.

Brighton and Bournemouth have fa bigger drugs problems

All the most obese towns in England are in the north

Almost all the poorest parts of England are in the North.

Another thrashing for Butty

I used to go to Hook to get the Indian curry in, but eventually we gave up cos they kept cocking the order up.

Hartney Wintney is nice I agree.

Your restaurant link doesn't work, but I have been in that restaurant several times. They have pictures of the various himalayan mountain ranges I believe. I thought there was a Tibetan place a few doors along?

And agree with the Friday night fisticuffs at Fleet. Saw that a few times.

Yes, when the squaddies of Aldershot come to town and meet the plebs from Farnborough and Yateley, then inevitably get into a cocaine-fuelled row.

I tend to avoid the Emporium (the squaddies favourite haunt) and the Wetherspoons (as it is a Wetherspoons) and stick to the Oatsheaf if I HAVE to drink in town. Generally as I'm a miserable old git, if I meet people for a drink, I usually go to the Station pub because it's quiet and I can hear people speaking normally

Exactly the same as Guildford, which was always an OK evening out.

I used to watch the occasional game of football at the Wyvern. Sometimes would pop into Crookham village/ Church Crookham? on the way back. Nice pub opposite the water?

Just showing you the full context of the discussion. I notice the IOW and most of soton is erring on the fat side, with Gosport out in front.

Personally i would ban all fatties from NHS support. Maybe encourage them to take up smoking instead of eating.

Yes I like the Wyvern, it was a decent, simple pub - friendly, good for sports.

Waterlooville doesn't have ugly areas like Soton does. It's hardly comparable due to the size difference. It's just non descript.

Is the wyvern no more? Shame if so. That pub by the station in Fleet you use GC is it still a pub come pizza place?

I'm not ageing well if I'm honest.

No sorry, I mean the Wyvern has now expanded with the new housing estate opening (Quetta Park), so it's now not the same. It's just another busy pub now - I preferred it before.

The Station; nah they dropped the pizzas and do a random selection of food like a Wetherspoons. But it is better than it was.

In response to 130's post, I think he meant the Heron on the Lake not the Fox & Hounds anyway. Heron on the Lake is great for families.

Just looked at this for 20 mins, and am confused. The location for the spice merchant (black horse) appears about right, but the pub I was on about used to have a village green feel about it, with some space around it, and maybe it felt like it was opposite a stream/ small river.

It definitely wasn’t the Queens Head or the Exchequer. Maybe the pub has closed down.

Further up the thread. Andover and Tadley were put in cos some didn't like the Surrey/Hants border towns inclusion. Camberley is pretty grim.
