The science block at King Edward’s was named after Sir EP Abraham; I think he paid for it. It looked the same when I went past on Saturday so I hope it still is. He did fantastic work providing alternatives to penicillin ( or something like that).

Dellhero. He's still (months now) looking for a laser physicist to replace the one who bolted because of the Brexit racists. This despite an ad on the Co-Op noticeboard.

Apart from winning awards for his gallantry,he was very skilful in handling his battalion during WW1 saving many lives.

Southampton firm 'Gordon Brothers' were geniuses for their development of the first spinnaker sail, it was that good that portsea island named their most iconic structure after it. They must love us down there.

"Thomas “Dutch” Diaper (1839-1902) was one of the most successful captains of the mid nineteenth century. Together with William Gordon, of Gordon Brothers, Southampton sail makers, he is credited with the development of the first spinnaker sail which made it’s debut on the NIOBE under “Dutch” Diaper’s command in June 1865"

What you describe is based on application of military tactics combined with bravery. Beak fully deserved his decorations but nothing in his citations makes him a genius.

Well anyone who gets his battalion back in good order from WW1 battlefield is a genius in my book.
