Great basketball team back in the early-mid eighties. Won the national cup 3 years in a row and the NBL title title in 83/84. Given the success of the team in the mid eighties and the huge popularity of basketball taking masses of support away from football clubs in those days it’s incredible saints managed to stay afloat in their period of success

Anyone have any greater memories as thousands of saints fans stopped watching saints to go to Fleming park to see Solent stars in that era?

They went bust in 1989, having won the League by spending way beyond their means.

Sound familiar?????

Yeah, was difficult to get tickets, especially with all those basketball loving fans travelling up from poopey area!
The blue few didn't have their own basketball team back then so used to skip Nottarf Krap and travel up to Fleming park. Took a terrible toll on their attendances!
