The Day West Brom fans outnumber Little Portsmouth's at Fratton Park in 1994 23:55 - Apr 9 with 7961 viewshedgeend61

Two time English Champions, FA Cup winners,EFL & Hampshire Cup winners, 2nd, 3rd, 4th Div winners, best supported team in the Universe outnumbered by Little West Brom?
Surely this can't be true? (Little Pompey managed 5000 for one game that season,
so maybe)

Great day. 10,000+ Albion fans in a 17,000 crowd.

Everyone had to pay £10 cash on the day. Took the ground staff by surprise and they had to move the Portsmouth fans from their usual area as Baggies fans kept arriving!

Fooking hell, the self-righteous, super tedious pfc onanist is back. Why can’t we get a more rationale debate on here with a skate? By the way, does anyone know if that pompey fan who took a serious beating off the Turks when England played there ever fully recovered? It was a sad case and many on here chipped in for him.

That was Russians wasn’t it?

Think I've found it, Is that the game Oct 49? 49,831

So no League game ever attracted 50k, or got whithin 8k of capacity? even when you won it.

Portsmouth's highest attendances were after the war when up to 50% (or more) were service personal with no interest in Portsmouth it was just a good day out with your mates.
Average crowds in the 30s around 18000-20000
1938,1939 they went up to 22000-23000 as more service personnel arrived. After the war crowds went up to 30000-37000. Some big games would attract up to 20000 more than other home games as fans went to see the big teams. Then they slowly decreased as national service decreased, up until 1960 when national service ended.
After that average attendances ranged from 13000-18000 with some games below 10000
Fact Portsmouth were the forces team

Yes. Our board have always been so much more financially astute than Portsmouth’s.

Agreed, building a stadium you just couldn't afford was genius. I mean who else could use it, but the football club? who was ever going to dismantle it?

130, you purport to be a follower of pfc. Why then could you not clarify whether your fellow follower who took that beating off the Russians ever recovered? Are you a fan or just an obsessed pedant?

As you know everything about football you will be fully aware that when our club went into admin everyone was paid 100%, the only exception was the stadium which was at the time mortgaged with Norwich Union 75% of what was owed was paid upfront, the rest if the club reached the Premiership within 5 years, which the club duly achieved. In case you don't get it 100% of debt paid not 1% like some club not far away

Your owner paid around 14 mill for your club, and the Stadium backers had to settle for a paltry 3-4 million. What else were they gonna do? Nobody else wanted the stadium.
