Maybe Nick’s suggestion of new ownership is around the corner? If one has deep pockets and can structure the deal that they are obliged to take over but current owner secures the players before hand via short term loans, then new owner would avoid getting price gauged by the club or the players’ agents... fanciful thinking most likely but we do seem to be linked with a lot of moderately expensive players despite the covid uncertainty and RH committed himself to the club which I assume would have had some assurances around playing staff.
