Both a Saint and an Iron on 12:22 - Dec 29 by kingslandstand1 | And scored as he did on all of his club debuts |
I was at the match, and think it was a friendly rather a testimonial, promoting the interest in NASL? But for the life of me cant remember if Greaves's goal ( and Bally's for them) were genuine in play games or trstimonial game like Xmas Panto set ups! Bearing in mind Greaves was about 40 and last played serious pro football in early 70s. I remember it was a goodwill act by Lawrie to help him get over his serious problems with alcohol. I was there and seem to recall some sort of NASL-style shootout at the end where players dribbled from 35 yards out and had 5 seconds to get a shot away. I'm sure I remember Channon making a right pig's ear of his. | | | |
