It's going to be interesting.

I am looking forward seeing Tella play from the start and to having the luxury of bringing on some subs that might change the game.

And seeing again how we will cover the right back slot too.

Tella looks good. Not sure it was a penalty. And Romeu is class.

Can we now request we don't have Mariner referee us for a few weeks

We are having the longest run of bad luck with referees than I can ever recall. Every dodgy decision seems to go against us: the smaller decsions as well as the big ones, Vestergard gets a yellow card for an innocuous challenge while a Leeds player comes scything in with a dangerous tackle that was verging oon a red card offence and gets nothing.

Agreed. Walcott was a good loan player at the time. Already injured, fine for a loan but I don't think we should give him a long term contract. He hasn't earnt it as such. Tella certainly looks really good. Saints are playing very well tonight so far. Very aggressive and pressing football.

Never a penalty but a dive for sure. A bit like the martial one.
He otherwise looks lively, but that was poor.

The tackle of romeu really was superb!

The TV pundit was criticising a Leeds player earlier in the game for not buying a penalty exactly like that, then has the nerve to say Tella was cheating. We have had plenty of penalties awarded against us where the forward has bought contact but when it comes to Southampton it's a different matter. That would have been a nailed on penalty for Leeds.

The point is if both sides were treated exacly the same, you could accept it.

As for the quick free-kick, I can recall Manchester United scoring one in exactly the same way., with no whistle blown. Marriner wouldn't have stopped it if it had been them.

It wasn't a penalty. And they just showed on sky that the ref did indeed blow the whistle after the free kick was taken. So nothing wrong with those decisions today. But yes, it should be consistent.

Totally agree Dirk. And the criticism tella got from pundits is way over the top compared to that given to "seasoned" pros who have done far worse and regularly.

These laws have to be applied fairly and equally to both teams. The problem is, as we have seen in our recent games, they aren't.

That is the problem with it, it of course should never be a penalty for anybody. It was a horrendous decision for Manchester back then which should have been punished. I went mad about it back then, and it shouldn't be a pen for us neither. players should be stopped from doing this. Martial like Tella...

No pen on Tella !! :-)

They all talking about his dive in the studio but he did get blocked by an arm as well. If it's on Salah it's a pen - just like the one he got v Man City.

Beckford saying he dived, but so did Bamford after he barged into Vest, plus that Rafina who we tackled by Romeu was rolling around holding his leg wanting a pen.
