FORSTER 10:41 - Mar 2 with 1680 viewsstmichael

Liked what I saw again yesterday.
Personally glad he is back and deserves a run to the end of the season - form permitting of course..

Poll: Do we bring back Bernard at the weekend or stick with Bree?

At least it has put to bed the myth about him being a clean sheet specialist. I don’t think that there is much between the two of them, they both have different strengths and weaknesses. Still, it was probably time to give McCarthy a break. He must have back ache from picking the ball out the back of the net so often. I am more concerned about our RB situation. Let’s hope that KWP is fit for the next game because both Stephens and Bednarek have proved that they can’t play there.

The only thing I would say re KWP though is that as has been said elsewhere, let's hope he's not rushed back and then out yet again

He made a great save from the effort that was then ruled out for offside but he didn't know that at the time so deserves credit.

I agree that there isn't much between him and McCarthy but worth giving him a run of games now though.

However, it doesn't help with our new biggest problem which is our inability to score. We're pinning a lot of hope on KWP but he was rushed back too quickly last time and that didn't end well.

I like the look of FF far more and surely Ramsay is good enough to start against Sheff United ffs?

Yes I agree I thought he had a good game, and to be fair he has only conceded one goal in five games, so he deserves his chance. The goal he conceded last night was down to poor covering again , I don’t think many keepers would have saved it. If we keep it tight at the back , at 1-0
We could have stole it at the end. I hope Ralph gives Fraser an extended run now , he waited for his chance , let’s hope he takes it and we can get some much needed points on the board.

From what I've seen (not much) of Ramsey he's not been up to it. Hasenhüttl must be of a similar opinion to keep playing Bednarek there instead of him.

Hopefully Ramsey will develop in the future as he's signed a new contract recently so there must be something in him.

Big mistake to play Bednarek there - twice...

we looked much better at the back when bednarak partnered vestigard, more physicality, thought salisu was a bit weak and poncy against calvert lewin who needed a good slapping

But teams are smelling blood now, and I think Salisu will come good .

Salisu is getting better with every game and Forster should retain his place.

Yes, I agree. Salisu looks a very good player to me. I see him as our long-term first choice central defender.

Salisu was one of our only players employing the same tactics as Everton to try to win free-kicks and, unfortunately, that's what you have to do nowadays to be competitive. Richarlison may look 'poncy' for screaming after any contact, and we may not like it, but he gets what he wants, the same as Grealish does with his flops.

Forster has let in 1 goal in his last 5 games

McCarthy has let in 18 goals in his last 5 games

Update:

Forster has let in 1 goal in his last 6 games

McCarthy has let in 19 goals in his last 6 games

The only worry is that McCarthy might play in the FA Cup. That would be a disaster.

Forster looks really solid, I have much more confidence in him than McCarthy. Ralph won’t do that will he?

Forster is another success story from today. He looks commanding and he is proactive: he doesn't just stand on his line. Liking what I see definitely.

Forster did well today and although he didn't have too much to do - he did his job well. You can't ask for more than a clean sheet.

I noticed we played out from the back a lot less today. FF kicked it long on plenty of occasions - no fooking about like we normally do. Maybe Ralph told him to? Better distribution than McCarthy too.

I thought he handled the ball extremely well from corners etc against a very physical side. Would certainly rather have him than that wet wipe down the other end today

Hope not, would be too harsh on Forster after playing in every other round with clean sheets

Please Ralph give Forster a run, whatever his demons were they look to have gone , he looks more confident now .
