There is no doubt that the memories of winning the FA Cup are long lasting and valuable. But as the years (decades) pass, the younger fan base have only the "present" to deal with with. The diehards are happy to go to whatever division the club may descend to, but the vast majority would probably rather see PL survival and the occasional spurts of good form and amazing one off wins against the giants, whilst having the chance to see players like Salah, De Bruyne, (from the present), Gerrard, Shearer, Henry, Van Persie, Bergkamp etc (from the past). The likes of Wigan and Portsmouth are faint shadows of their former selves, having shed tens of thousands of regular fans who don't think the porridge served up in the lower divisions merits the entrance money. So on that basis, I'm happy to keep waiting for a trophy. |  | | |
