Not going well for Barcelona again. His time at Saints is one of his few successes

Sometimes a club is just a good fit and definitely seems the case for him while he was here. So much off field stuff going on at Barcelona, they are all over the place.

Ronald Koeman was a good manager for us, just a pity that his head got turned for money

On paper Koeman left Saints to join a bigger club, with ambition and money to spend. And yes he did get a big pay rise from doing so.

As it turned out he should have stayed at Saints. What was a once in a lifetime
chance for Everton to make significant progress with the initial Moshiri investment was handled appallingly by Koeman and Walsh and set Everton back years rather than progressing them.

He did sign you DCL, so not all bad.

Unsworth signed DCL for the Under-23’s. Koeman played him at right back

Makes you wonder how much you need to spend these days.
Quite a few teams have spent 100m plus in various recent transfer windows and not really improved.
I can think of Fulham, Villa, Everton and Spurs. Villa maybe secured PL status now but are still only likely to be 8th to 19th.
Everton have spent a huge amount over the last 5 years and still won't crack the top 7.
It's one thing having the money to spend, but extracting full value from it is not easy.

Interesting isn't it, that Koeman was excellent here but hasn't fared well at most other teams he has managed. Same for Adkins, who again was only good here! Southampton is the place to be.
