Watch BoJo wash his dirty hands of this and blame it all on Door Matt

No apologies once again but they have learned lessons! Not really going to cut it with those who lost loved ones needlessly. Yet again, no responsibility taken for their actions. As you say, no surprise at all. I just hope people remember come the next election.

This report shouldn’t surprise anyone as hindsight is a wonderful thing. Through the whole pandemic scientists medics and politicians consistently disagreed and still are.

People have very short memories, the usual will vote the way they always do
Thats why we are here now 11 years on and so many thinks its so good under tory rule

No it is no surprise and you are right about hindsight, but we had prior warning from what was happening in Italy which makes the claims of inertia and incompetence stick. Also what happened in the care homes was a catastrophic cock up and should amount to criminal negligence.

Obviously it is, but so is this Governments lack of action and ignorance of the situation, failure to stop people coming in from Far East (China in particular) earlier enough a good example, we should of closed our borders, and also with the MP going around shaking hands with COVID patients early on when guidance at the time was not to.

Governments across the world made mistakes, which to most sensible people, is understandable as this was an event that nobody could have planned for. The scientists disagreed, countries disagreed, some locked down, some didn't. Sweden didn't lock down at all. Others locked down and still had a high death rate, some locked down lightly and had lower death rates. Some scientists
on record said herd immunity was best, some didn't, masks weren't effective, then they were, how was the government supposed to know if the scientists didn't even know? shutting down the economy for longer, kids off school for longer could have had further consequences, who knows. The care home tragedy happened in many other countries too, not just here. And shutting down the country has many implications, making that decision not as simple as just shut down. Lessons can be learned but this is all in hindsight. To bring in a football analogy, we could have played Broja, we could have played 5 at the back, we wouldn't have lost if Forster played blah blah blah. Easy to say in hindsight. Lessons to be learnt for sure, for the world but the blame game about this, I don't think is helpful. Blame the government about cuts, political decisions ok, but not sure we can blame the government for something nobody knew what to do about. The experts all know what to to do after the event but didn't at the time. They all disagreed.

We could all say 'with the benefit of hindsight I wouldn't have done that 'when we make mistakes.

Even the right wing press is beginning to question just how much the country is beginning to unravel.

"Maersk, the world’s largest container shipping company, is diverting its big vessels away from the UK."

It could be argued that everything is now out of our government's control but how did it lose control of so much?

The endlessly catastrophising Guardian, BBCWokeScold and SLY love this stuff.

Repudiation is easy isn't it?

And try guiding a nation through a pandemic crisis yourself, answer honestly and tell me you wouldn't make mistakes?
Every country's opposition from Brazil to Bulgaria is engaged in febrile condemnation of those responsible at the time. The suffering has been worldwide.
Revelling in the opinion that we are unique or the very worst performers is simply partisan politics and parochial

OK, OK, You wanna exclusively catastrophise about the UK - we get it..

However, a record 70 container vessels are at anchor or adrift in the San Pedro Bay, waiting to be unloaded at the Port of Los Angeles/Long Beach - it's a world wide supply chain and fuel price problem caused by East Asian countries and their fuel storage limitations.

Spot on. Too many on here and in the media trying to make political points when it it has been a unique public health experience with literally no-one having prior experience of the possible outcomes. Fortunately we have vaccines or we would all be arguing our way to early deaths.

We elect a government to make important decisions based on advice given by appropriate sources. So to say’ well what would you have done’ is ridiculous. What would you do when an inquiry such as we have had has found the government has failed on so many accounts? Would you just mark down ‘Could do better’?Just not good enough. They would help themselves too if they would admit to mistakes .

This Government like every other since the 1990s do not directly control UK Logistics. The only Government to seek to do so outside of War was Attlee's after 1945 and thereafter all administrations were content to allow these sectors to manage themselves rather than reporting in to a Minister so this notion of the Government somehow being directly responsible for management of container traffic either at sea or on land is ridiculous, How do you get suckered in to imagining Grant Shapps on the phone directing ships from one port to another, or telling Stobarts where to send their trucks? Do you imagine that a Minister with just two year's experience is going to know how to manage the Post Suez impact on ship movements and then the Pandemic? That is not his job. Your comment about silver spoons and dividend reaping friends is the sort of thing you'd expect from a child. You probably think they all wear top hats when they go shopping as well.

Pre pandemic a shipping container from China to UK cost about $2000 they are currently going for $16,000 for a spot on a ship and thats rising. To ship it from the port to Totton was about £160 , currently its about £600.

Whether you are in Southampton or Rotterdam prices for the consumers will start rising drastically soon. There is also a shortage of the actual containers , around the world there are fields full of them packed with dodgy PPE that didnt meet the standards.

Trust no one in a circus.
