We sold ALL our creative, talented players... For some reason, they didn't 'fit' our system. Maybe our SYSTEM is wrong?
Through it all, we've kept Shane Long and I expect that one day, like Kelvin Davis, he'll become a first team coach and pass on the Southampton Way to the next generation of players.
Meanwhile our better players will continue to follow a non-Southampton way to other clubs.
Gabbiadini was another of our poor striker signings. Averaged a PL goal every 5 games during his painfully average time here which is slightly worse than Adams' current form.
Not a player to get sentimental over.
"Playing Devil's Advocate since 15th January 2014"
The Premier League is awash with players that arrived here and paid riches far beyond their wildest dreams. Many, not all of course, were more interested in their vast bank balances than playing the actual game itself.
I always felt that he was a yard too quick for the thinking from the rest of the team, and by the time they woke up, his movement, and the opportunity was wasted. His style of play was not properly utilised IMO. No doubt he lost motivation under donkey management too.
