Ancelotti has a tremendous record of winning trophies and yet he has never really got that recognition in this country or in our media even when he was manager of Chelsea.

Real Madrid did an impressive job on them, that's for sure. The goalkeeping and defensive display was absolute gold. Wonderful performance.

Their name had been on this cup for a while. They have been outplayed a number of times but have found a way to win. Hazard and Bale unused subs too! Well deserved victory.

He certainly gets the best out of his squads. I am not sure he ever “builds for the future”, but that luxury if afforded to relatively few managers in each top national league these days.

I thought that Real Madrid played like an old school Italian side, and whilst not exciting, it was interesting to watch and see that it still works. They certainly had a more resolute defence, concentrating and working together. Liverpool by contrast looked shockingly vulnerable whenever they were called on to defend. Madrid have shown that given an opportunity on goal, they will score more often than not. Liverpool’s lauded trio too often shot or headed directly at Courtois. 5 attempt on goal in the first half alone.
